If you do not have a previous award but think you have the relevant skill set and want to build your confidence then the Explore award is for you. The Explore award encourages confidence and skill for you to be independent on the water and being able to take part in self guided adventures. It teaches you to fine tune your skills of your craft and stay safe on the water whether that be a lake, river, canal or estuary. In this award you will take ownership of your own decisions and learn to make confidence choices, based on the places you paddle, wind and weather. The Explore award emphasises independence and skill. ensuring you can make the right decision for the situation. With the journey you will learn etiquette on how to share the water with other users. A more in depth look at crafts, equipment and clothing is also vital to fill in the gaps you may have to get out adventuring safely. Anyone can take the Explore award.
